How to Get Bubblegum Out of Your Hair
Ugh! Getting gum in your hair is usually a problem that leaves you in tears or having to have an unplanned hair cut. But there are easier and less expensive ways to get gum out of your hair. Listen to these tips, and you will
never have to go through all those hours cutting, brushing and untangling ever again.
PEANUT BUTTER METHOD
step 1. get smooth peanut butter, the more oily the better.
step 2. apply the peanut butter to the areas where gum is stuck and mix it in with toothbrush (you dont have
to use a tooth brush, but it is easier if you dont want to get messy with your hands)
step 3. use the tooth brush or fingers to work through hair in long strokes. If gum is spread out use more peanut
butter.
step 4. use a dry towel and pull out the peanut butter in your hair…along with it will come the gum!
step 5. wash all extra peanut butter out of hair with a good shampoo (make sure to lather well before
rinsing it off)
step 6. let hair dry naturally and see results afterwards when hair is fully dry
This method helps a lot and works most of the time. If you have very thick hair put extra peanut butter, if you have thin hair try putting less.
COOKING OIL METHOD
step 1. apply any kitchen cooking oil (canola, olive, vegetable) to gum and surrounding hair
step 2. wait 2 or 3 minutes with oil in hair
step 3. use a comb and gently comb the gum out of your hair
step 4. wash your hair with shampoo
This method helps with people who have not alot of gum in their hair, tangled deep in roots and ends.
ICE AND SALT WATER METHOD
step 1. soak your hair in salt water…this makes your hair easier to ice
step 2. put ice on the gum for about 15 to 20 minutes
step 3. remove the gum with hands
This method works most of the time. It hardens the gum, which easily comes off with a snap.
BONUS TIP: How to Get Gum out of Clothes, Sheets, Fabrics, etc..
Getting gum stuck on jeans or shirts can be a pain. Getting it on sheets or blankets is even worse!
The best way to get gum out of fabrics is the ice method.
ICE METHOD
step 1. fold the clothing so that the gum faces outwards
step 2. get an ice cube and rub the gum with ice for 15 to 20 minutes
step 3. take a butter knife and gently scrape off the gum (use a butter knife to not rip or tear fabric). Do not allow gum to thaw out because the freezing hardens the gum and it will go back to stuck again.
You can also try putting vinegar on the gum and scrubbing it off with a tooth brush.
